Reducing bushes are available

1

Get the right fittings

You'll need a Tee (T-join) fitting that matches your pipeline size, plus a reducing bush to adapt it down to the sensor's 20mm BSPT male thread. If your pipe is already 20mm, no reducing bush is needed - the sensor screws straight into the Tee.

2

Set up your account and add the sensor

3

Power on the sensor (at home first)

Before heading out to the farm: power on the sensor at home and confirm it's connecting.
  • Remove the pull tab labelled "Remove to power on sensor"
  • The sensor will automatically connect to the One NZ NB-IoT network
  • Wait a few minutes for the first reading to transmit
  • Check the dashboard to confirm the last received time
  • If you won't be using the device for more than a week, replace the tab to turn it off
4

Choose a location on your farm

As the changes in pressure are relative, the sensor can go at the tank, the pump, or anywhere along the pipeline - wherever is most practical. Any point on the line gives useful data.

  • Anywhere in between is equally valid - pick the most accessible spot
  • If the tank is in a gully or low-lying area, consider placing the sensor higher on the line for better sun exposure and signal
  • Point the solar panel facing north and as high as the cable allows
  • Make sure you're within One NZ NB-IoT coverage - note that actual signal may be better or worse than the map suggests
5

Install the sensor on the pipeline

Important: Mount the sensor housing first and check cable reach before cutting into your pipe.
  • Turn off the water supply before installation
  • Install the Tee at the chosen point in your water line
  • Thread the sensor into the Tee securely
  • Turn water back on and check thoroughly for leaks before leaving
  • Tip: you can run a short pipe from the Tee to reach a better-positioned sensor location
6

Configure your alerts (after a couple of days)

Give yourself a few days to observe normal pressure patterns, then set up your alerts:

  • Add your mobile number to your account
  • Set a pressure threshold and duration that matches your system's normal range
  • You'll receive an SMS if pressure drops below your threshold for the set period
